The Fire in the Flint is a collection of 10 tracks of all-new music from award-winning multi-instrumentalist John Adorney. Female vocalist Daya is featured on four of the tracks, and Marcel Adjibi provides African vocals on the song “Aliho Houn/The Path is Open.” John performs on cello, guitar, keyboards, dulcimer and banjo. Richard Hardy performs on bamboo flute.
The Fire in the Flint delivers all the wonderful elements you would expect and wish for after having enjoyed John’s previous CDs - and at the same time, it reveals some delightful new surprises.
Daya performs some of her most enchanting vocals ever, including an inspired version of the beautiful Indian song “Always Remembering You,” and the delicate choir-like harmonies of “The Heart Cloth.” Another returning collaborator, African vocalist Marcel Adjibi, once again brings his vocal magic to the African/Indian/Reggae-flavored “Aliho Houn/The Path is Open,” and Richard Hardy joins John on the lovely flute and cello duet “A Moment Noticed.”

The Critics
“During the course of auditioning a couple of hundred classical and New Age recordings a month, it is always a pleasure to hear the music from a new artist unique and compelling enough to generate excitement”
Ted Cox (New Age Retailer)
“Beckoning reminds me of what attracted me to the world of New Age music in the first place – gentle melodies and intricate instrumentation. John Adorney is a multi-instrumentalist who brings forth songs that are “hummable”, which is to say that they imprint themselves gently on the consciousness. Before you are aware of it, a smile may grace your face, and perhaps even your toes may be tapping in accompaniment”
